Filipino Town

Las Vegas is on the brink of creating a landmark cultural district to honor its vibrant and growing Filipino community. With over 200,000 Filipinos calling the valley home—the largest Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) group in the region—this initiative celebrates the rich heritage and undeniable contributions of Pinoys in shaping the city’s culture and economy.

The proposed district, Filipino Town, is set to span Maryland Parkway between Flamingo and Desert Inn Road. This area is already bustling with Filipino businesses, restaurants, and community hubs, making it the perfect location for the designation. Clark County Commissioner Tick Segerblom has championed the project, envisioning a space where the community’s history, culture, and entrepreneurship can shine.

The excitement is palpable among local residents. Business owner Anthony Caneido shared his pride, saying, “This area has so much history, especially for the people here. Giving it a name that represents us would mean so much.” Similarly, Eric Jeng of One APIA Nevada praised the initiative, highlighting how the district would showcase Filipino traditions and cuisine while fostering cultural pride.

The Clark County Commission has already approved the next steps, including planning signage and mapping for the district. The project will rely on community-driven funding, ensuring no additional burden on taxpayers.

For Las Vegas, Filipino Town isn’t just a new cultural landmark—it’s a celebration of Pinoy pride and a powerful testament to the legacy of Filipinos in the city. It’s a historic win for the community and future generations.
